I came from Germany to the USA (Texas) when i was 18 and I always was into football. I never got to go to High School here but I would love to play for a college team (preferably SMU) But I do not know what the best way would be for me to get a scholarship. I am 21 years old, 6′3 and 250 lbs.and my desired position would be Linebacker. I am fast, strong and I am willing to study hard to maintain my GPA and also to work out to be one of the best.
College Football season just started and I would love to be Part of the Team and the Students next year.
Any helpful answers are welcome, Thanks!

Well – you’ve got the requisite size, that’s an asset, for sure. If you end up attending SMU, you can walk onto the football team. If you perform well enough and impress the coaches, they might award you a scholarship.
That would be the best way for someone in your situation, IMO. If you have never played organized football, soliciting a scholarship from any university would be an extreme longshot, unless you had some eye-popping physical attributes that you could show off for the coaches.
So – go enroll at the university of your choice. Approach the football coach, and tell him you’d like to be a walk-on player for the team. He’ll probably ask you where you played high school ball and how well you did. When you tell him you’ve never played before, but are strong and fast, he might let you run a sprint or some other drill to test whether you have anything he might eventually find useful for the football team. After that, it’s between him and you.
Good luck!
