What Make You Want To Hire Someone From Outside The Organization.?

A senior executive has ended in his letter of resignation as he has been offered a full scholarship to study MBA in USA. You decide to find a new replacement. You decide to go ahead and hire someone from out side company rather than promote a capable executive from inside your organization. What make you want to hire someone from outside the organization.

That senior executive has been your most trusted and capable staff to you. Also if you have requested the HR to advertise internally for that position and no suitable candidate has been found.
You had also ’scrape the bottom of your organisational barrel’ and had not found a suitable replacement.

A vacancy higher up is no reason to move up someone in the organization higher. They may simply not have the talent or skills necessary. A manager also realizes that if they move someone up they still have a vacancy to fill and they may not have the same level of control over that other position so hiring outside is a way to shake things up and the new outside employee can be molded in the way the manager wants, not necessarily to change the status quo but more because it gives the manager a sense that they are important. A job opening is a commodity and managers use them to promote themselves. Managers are not selfless creatures looking out for the best interests of their charges or even the company itself.
