I’m a sophomore in high school at the moment and I’m taking ASL classes at the community college across the street. Now, for some time I’ve been debating on weather or not next year I should go into an independent study program and take most my academic classes at the college, so I can graduate a year early. I’m in California and as many of you probably know, the state is broke. Sadly, high schools are going to be hit even harder next year and I just want to get out of high school system. I ready to start a new chapter in my life and try something new. It feels like I’ve been learning the same thing over and over and over again for years, but anyway I digress.
I already know I want to major in ASL& Deaf studies at CSU Northridge, but I was wondering if they would they like someone who stayed in high school all 4 years, or someone that graduated early and took the year they had off studying their major to the best of there abilities from where they are and applying for grants and scholarships? Your input means a lot. Thank you

I was in the same boat as you a few years ago and from personal experience, I would suggest that you stay in high school for the last two years. I made the mistake of leaving early and missed out my opportunity to be a “kid” which I’ve heard would have been two of the best years of my life (especially senior year). You’re still young and you already know what you want to do, so why rush? I wish I could have turned back the hands of time and fully experienced my junior and senior year. You only get to be a senior once and you don’t want to miss it. You have all the time in the world to become who you want to be but you will never get back what you’ve missed. Enjoy being a high school student. Graduate with your class and don’t blink because it will fly by really quick. Good luck!

Its up to you but if it were me I would graduate early? Why because h.s. wastes your time. If you know what you want to do already then why not just get to it? The first two years of college are a repeat of h.s., you have to take general education courses. If it were me, I’d get to college asap and get the general education courses out of the way already.
If you feel you know the material already and that things are getting too repetitive in h.s. then yes by all means go to college. Colleges don’t care if you stayed in high school or graduated early, they want someone who learned, got good grades and was a good student. People have graduated early from high school before and it didn’t make a difference, the only difference is if you’re a good student or not.
Don’t drop out though. Get your h.s. diploma, but get it early. Take summer school classes if you need to. But yes graduating early just seems like a good plan.
