I am studying engineering at Embry Riddle Daytona, with the intent on becoming an Aviator in the USN. I want to join the ROTC program to give me some exposure to the service whilst I am completing my studies.
I am confused by the citizenship component. I am not applying for an ROTC scholarship, just the training and experience. I have a greencard, my parents are american, I was born and raised in australia. I will be a citizen next year so the scholarships and commision will have to wait.
Exactly how far can I go with ROTC using my GC? I heard of people participating under their student visas also, whats the deal? Surely you must at least have a GC…

Talk to your NCOs at the Det…….I’m not sure about Navy policy but your NCOs should know. If not, they can find out.

To receive a commission in the US Military, you MUST be a citizen… you must ALSO be a citizen to enroll in the NROTC program.
A “green card” does NOT meet the requirements.http://www.navy.com/careers/nrotc/eligib…
GOOD LUCK THOUGH.
