How much scholarship money can one expect from an expensive liberal arts school?

I live in a state with some of the highest tuitions in the country (not that it matters for liberal arts colleges, because they’re always in the $40,000 range).

Anyway, I’ve all but given up on them due to the expense and the fact that I don’t want to have a huge debt going into graduate school after earning my BS in biology. So…I’d like to know, from personal experience, how much money is generally awarded from non-need based aid (academic achievement money).

If more info is needed for your answer, let me know. Thanks in advance!

Is it true that a GED is not as good as a high school diploma?

Let me explain my situation. I was in my senior year of high school. I got good grades and was even offered a scholarship to the college in question. But close to the end of the semester, due to an emergency that was out of my control, I had to move from my mom’s house in Tennessee to stay with relatives in Indiana. I tried to get back in high school as soon as I arrived in Indiana. I was told that I couldn’t without my mother’s signature. At this point I didn’t even know where my mom was. They then told me not to worry about finding her, because due to differences in credit requirments from state to state, I wouldn’t even graduate this year any way. I got my GED.However by the time I got my scores back it was too late to enroll for the fall semester.I figured I would start in January. friends of mine told me that the school I was wanting to go to did not take GEDs unless you had an associate’s degree form another school. How is it that they can do this? I am not a lower class person!
What I mean is what are my options? All I have wanted since I started high school was to have the whole college experiance. You know dorm rooms and sporting events. You may be able to get the same quality education at a community college, but not the same experiances. Are you telling me that someone can rob you of that just because some stupid piece of paper says “GED” and not “High School Diploma”? I worked just as hard for that as any graduating senior. I had all the credits required to graduate, except one. And I had srtaight A’s in that class. All that was left was walking across the stage. On top of that the GED test was harder than anything I did while in high school. I spent weeks preparing for it. Can someone explain how this is fair?

Scholarships PLEASE HELP!!!?

I am a high school Valedictorian graduate and Im attending UF in the fall. Unfortunately UF does’nt have Valedictorian scholarships and I only have 75% bright futures and they just cut back on their scholarship amount too. FAFSA said my parents make too much money so I cant really apply for many scholarships. May you please help me find some? I really really need help paying for school. FAFSA does’nt see that people have other necessities to pay for. PLEASE HELP ME
I understand that times have changed and that is why Im asking you all if you know any scholarships that may be available for me. Im not changing my college choice because I already paid for everything unless you want to pay me back SUBA. If I wanted to stay home I would have never applied to any universities and stayed at where I was earning my dual enrollment credits. All I need is some help looking for scholarships that may benefit me.

Why am I not getting the ISAC Map grant (Illinois grant) I got for this school year for the next school year?

My financial aid was just posted and I noticed that I am not getting that same grant I got this school year for next year. I’m really stressing out because it made up a big chunk of the money I was receiving in grants and scholarships. Last year my EFC was a little over 8000 and for the 2007-2008 year it went up to over 14000. My income did increase…I made 17,000 but only because I had graduated high school early in January of this year and worked a ton of over time until September. Since I dont have that time anymore my income will not be near as much this year. I’m attending a private school whos expected cost is about 34,000! Since my EFC is that high….is that why I am not getting any grants at all??

How do I get scholarships?

Where would be the best pre- medical school to go to?

I am going to graduate next year and I wanted to know what the best pre-med. school is. I heard John Hopkins has a good program, but they do not have a woman’s golf program. I want to go to a very good pre-med school that has a women’s golf team and also will give me a scholarship too.

I need a student loan with the lowest interest rates?

i am interested in attending a cal state school afeter i graduate high school in 2008. I know that the only way to pay through it would be through student loans, because im not an athlete nor am i a fantastic student with a 3.5 or higher im just a regular junior trying to do well so that rules out any scholarships so if your going to answer this question don’t comment on scholarships. i want to know the company which give out the best student loans. i have no prior experience with the information about student loans so if anyone could give me information about federal student loans or what is sally mae nelly mae or subsidized loans which i have no idea what that means. an another question if apply for a student loan will that pay for the whole 4yrs tuition, books, and housing or do i have to apply for fafsa for the books and other expenses. thanks.

Is there any chance a b-school will give a full scholarship?

I graduated from an accredited university with a 3.9 GPA and score above a 750 on the GMAT.

What is better? Go to a top 20 private school and get a degree in business? or Go to a top in state school and?

then get money from your parents after you graduate to start your own business?
1st option: 120K tuition fees paid
2nd option:getting a scholarship on your own and then getting around 80K-100K to start a business or do whatever with the money after/during your time in college?
