First, you have to have some kind of valid visa in order to live in the US for 5 years. You can enter the US as a tourist, but you cannot stay any longer than 90 days.
You can stay in the US for quite long with J-visas or F-visas, but these don’t give you Green Card either no matter how long you stay. In order to get a Green Card, you have to have a “sponsor”. Either you marry American woman/man? or get hired by an employer who can do I-551 or H-visa support. There is a Green Card lottery, but the chance is very skinny.
In order to enlist in US military, you have to be either US-citizen or legal permanent resident (Green Card holder). So probably once you get a Green Card, it’ll go smoothly.
Yes, if you join, you’ll be eligible for education benefits and you’ll be able to apply for citizenship quicker than others. Once you become a naturalized citizen, you are eligible for clearance.
You’ll probably need TS in order to get a job at CIA.

    nope won’t work.
1: emigrate legally to the US. the Military cannot and will not help.
2: Get Green card. again, NO help from the military.
3: enlist. you cannot have any job requiring a Clearance( and that include all the Intell jobs)
4: after 12 months in uniform you may apply for citizenship.
5: it takes, on average twice as long to get a Bachelor’s degree while serving Active duty. so eight years minimum. assuming that your Oz education is classified as an American High school diploma. If it is NOT. then you won’t be able to enlist until you get some US college credits.. at least 15.
6: you don’t just apply to the CIA.. THEY come Looking for YOU.
Education while serving: there are MULTIPLE ways to get college credits paid for while serving. STA-21( you are not eligible until you are a citizen for this program and you will become an Officer at the end). CLEP tests, Tuition Assistance, and others. Larger ships actually send civilians on the deployments with you to teach classes on board. many also do online schooling while underway. and then of course the GI Bill once you have been discharged.

It won’t happen. You will not qualify for a security clearance, period.
While non-citizens may enlist, they will find their job choices extremely limited. DOD policy prohibits granting security clearances to non-U.S. Citizens. Therefore, non-Citizens. who enlist in the United States military will be limited to those jobs which do not require a security clearance.
Go to school in Australia and get your degree or join the ARN. Then apply to the CIA for employment.
