I live in Indiana. But i will be moving to Florida soon. Like 5months, or possible a year. It’s confusing. But I want to get a (some) scholarships for college. Cause i m not going to be able to pay for all of it. I would like a lil help. But anything i find. U have to be a resident of florida. Yes i know i have to live there for a year. Which by then i will graduate high school. I am a junior here. And plan to move this summer to finish my senior year in FL. But i don’t know how this works now. I’m all confused. Can i get a scholarship here in IN then take it with me to Florida. Because i will be graduate like i said from HS by the time i get my year residency in. Which then seems too late to get a scholarship. Normally u sign up for all the and a college at the end of your senior year.
Someone please help. I have searched and searched, i don’t know what to do. Any questions please ask. I’m not good at explaining things. TY.
Ashley
And if your just gona tell me that im dumb and i shouldn’t be going then dont say anything. I have worked on this for 2 years. And i am not going blind. “Oh im just going to move to FL and every things going be just jolly” ..Im not some stupid immature teenage girl with her head up her ***. So i would appreciate some help and not a counseling lesson. Theres lots more to this story that u dont know, that would make sense why im doing this and that im not going to be all alone with nothing. I have plans( promises)…LOTS. And im going to be fine.
Yes, i plan on attending a community college. I acually already have one i picked out. I’m pretty sure i’ll go with this one. It will def. help out on cost.
I may also work a year before college. Which would give me more time

Not surprising that you’re frustrated here – the timing of the move to Florida probably couldn’t be coming at a time that would complicate things more than this.
If you do move in 5 months, everything about residency in Florida should work out. You will have spent basically your entire senior year of high school in Florida, your high school diploma will be from a Florida school, etc, so you should be viewed as a legitimate state resident by the time you start college there. If you move as late as a year from now, you will need to contact someone in a college registrar’s office – the one you want to attend, if you have that narrowed down by next January – about how you can establish residency by the fall of 2011. (It’s probably a good idea to contact someone regardless of when you think you’ll actually move, just to make sure you will be considered “in-state” for tuition purposes.)
The scholarship answer is actually a little easier. It’s probably too soon to be applying for scholarships now. The vast majority of scholarship money comes from colleges themselves in awards to their incoming freshmen. You won’t be applying to colleges until the fall and won’t be an admitted student anywhere until early 2011. The next biggest source of scholarships would be local businesses and organizations, which won’t help you right now either, since the great majority of those are awarded to graduates of high schools in those businesses’ communities. You won’t be a 2010 high school graduate in Indiana – you will be a 2011 graduate in Florida and would need to apply for scholarships there.
If the financial part of this doesn’t work itself out quickly, you may also want to look into community colleges in Florida. That would be a cheaper alternative for the first year or two and may be the best way to afford college in your circumstances. Frankly, your educational experience would be better at a four-year college, but your first year is almost all general education requirements and won’t have a tremendous impact on your major field of study.
Good luck – at least you won’t be freezing this time next year!
