How soon can you start applying for college scholarships?

I’m going into my least year of high school and beginning the college application process. Can I apply for – and possibly receive – scholarships before I’ve chosen a college to attend?

You could have started applying for scholarships back as a freshman, but you most certainly can now.

Yes you can. You can apply for independent scholarships, which you can find at sites like http://www.fastweb.com, or scholarships offered by the college(s) you’re applying to. Check your college’s website to see what scholarships they offer, and whether you have to fill out a separate application, or whether you’re considered automatically based on your admissions application. You don’t have to know which college you’re going to to apply for scholarships from the colleges, so fill out as many scholarship applications as you can! Good luck!

Hello how are you? You can start applying as early as you want. A good rule of thumb would be to begin applying end of sophmore beginning of junior year. What I suggest you do is use a scholarship search. A scholarship search allows you to create a profile and receive information for all the scholarships that you are eligible to apply for based on your profile description. Scholarshipsupport.com actually has 2 free scholarship searches available right now. I hope this helps. Good Luck!
