I’m really hoping on going to an American University/College when I finish school in a couple of years – I’m from Australia.
Down here, the cost of the best Universities is about $24,000 Australian, which roughly translates to about $27,000 US.
To go to somewhere like Georgetown (which I’d absolutely love to), it looks like it will cost (including housing and all that stuff) a bit over the $40,000 mark ($US).
Although I know I’ll probably have to resort to them, what’s the best way to try and get it all working while having the smallest amount in loans to pay in later life – I’m not quite sure how the aid system works over there.
I’m at one of the top schools in the country, and am easily in the top 20%, probably greater, of my class, am in a hell of a lot of co-curricular activities and am desperate to go to school overseas.
I’m smart, but not the “First in My Year” kind of scholarship smart.
What are some options I could consider when talking to my parents and teachers?
Cheers!
