Can I Go To University In Australia?

I really want to study at uni in Australia (higher education overseas) but don’t know much about it or costs (which is a big issue) or if it’s possible without a scholarship.
NB. I’m British (not American). I have realatives of my Grandmas there, if that would mean anything. I have a about 3 years before I start uni. I will probably/hopefully get the grades to get into a uni fine.
Thanks. Also, all tips or tales from experience would be helpful. =)

    G’day,
After 3 years, what education level will you have? A-Level will likely gives you direct entry to university. With O-Level, you will have to go to college or foundation year first then uni.
There are only 42 (soon to be 43) universities in Australia, all of them are fully accredited and they are tightly regulated, therefore the quality and recognition of their graduates are equal from wherever university you are studying from. The most important thing is you have to READ the course information carefully, since some courses may have the same name but different content.
I suggest you to go to Dept of Education, Science and Technology (http://cricos.dest.gov.au) and IDP Education Australia website (www.idp.edu.au) online databases. It will give you a list of universities that offers the course you want to study in. Please make sure that you access the information for international students, since some requirements, application form and fees are different than Australians’.
Once decided on the uni, fill in the application form and send it together with certified copy of your academic qualification.
Living cost… Sydney and Canberra have the highest living cost, followed by Melbourne & Brisbane, then Perth, Darwin, Adelaide & Tasmania the lowest. I am attaching a weblink from one of the uni in Melbourne as an indication.
So with many options for your to choose, this is my suggestion to narrow down your choice:
    1. Choose the city you want to study in. The consideration maybe the lifestyle, living cost, weather or relatives.
    2. Find the area that you want to work/career in. Check if the uni’s are offering the area.
I used to be an international student in Australia from Asia. Some of my experience are written in the weblink below.
For scholarships, you can visit http://www.ausaid.gov.au for Australian government scholarship programs. You can also visit some Australian educational agents (you can get the list from the uni’s website) to find out if some of the uni that they represent do offer scholarships.
Hope this helps. Good luck for your study and welcome to Australia :)
